Calibre is a third party app, it's their responsibility to update and fix their app. There are various choices for opening EPUB files, such as Adobe Digital Editions (ADE), Calibre, EPUB File Reader, Apple Books, Stanza Desktop and Okular. The steps above contain instructions for use on Windows and Mac systems. Calibre (cross-platform) Apple Books (Mac, iOS) Adobe Digital Editions (Windows, Mac, iOS, Android) Aldiko (iOS, Android) If you want to edit the book contained within an EPUB file, you can do so using an ebook editor, such as Calibre.
- Apr 17, 2021 First perform the following steps in calibre. Set the Preferred Output Format in calibre to EPUB (The output format can be set under Preferences → Interface → Behavior) Set the output profile to iPad (this will work for iPhone/iPods as well), under Preferences → Conversion → Common options → Page setup.
- Removing eBook DRM using Calibre. DRM (or Digital Rights Management) is an anti-piracy measure used to lock down content to a purchaser. Games, movies, and eBooks are all common places to find DRM in action, especially if you’ve bought eBooks from the Amazon Kindle store.
History[edit]
This cultivar is a chance seedling, possibly a hybrid of 'Grimes Golden'[3][4] and 'Golden Reinette'.[5] The original tree was found on the Mullins' family farm in Clay County, West Virginia, United States, and was locally known as Mullin's Yellow Seedling and Annit apple. Anderson Mullins sold the tree and propagation rights to Stark Brothers Nurseries for $5000, which first marketed it as a companion of their Red Delicious in 1914.[6]
In 2010, an Italian-led consortium announced they had decoded the complete genome of the 'Golden Delicious' apple.[7] It had the highest number of genes (57,000) of any plant genome studied to date.
'Golden Delicious' was designated the official state fruit of West Virginia by a Senate resolution on February 20, 1995.[8] Clay County has hosted an annual Golden Delicious Festival since 1972.
Other West Virginia apples include Grimes Golden, and Guyandotte, which is believed extinct.[citation needed]
'Golden Delicious' was one of four apples honored by the United States Postal Service in a 2013 set of four 33¢ stamps commemorating historic strains, joined by 'Northern Spy', 'Baldwin', and 'Granny Smith'.[9]
Appearance and flavor[edit]
'Golden Delicious' is a large, yellowish-green skinned cultivar and very sweet to the taste. It is prone to bruising and shriveling, so it needs careful handling and storage. It is a favorite for salads, apple sauce, and apple butter.[citation needed]
Season[edit]
'Golden Delicious' are harvested from fall through winter.

Hi all, as with many others, the metadata of my books in iBooks was a huge mess. I couldn't find a solution online, so I tried and found a way to fix it, and figured I'd share the knowledge.
Used systems/ apps
Calibre Apple Computer
- Mac OS High Sierra 10.13.6 with iBooks
- Calibre 3.37.0
- If you are using a different language for calibre you can change the language (temporarily) via calibre > preferences > interface > look & feel. Makes the below easier.
- Add your books to Calibre and fix all metadata as you want it.
Note1: if you add custom columns (calibre > preferences > interface > add your own columns > add custom column) these don't seem to be added to the (exportable) metadata.
Note2: the transfer of column information is not great. The series column in calibre is not used in ibooks, so put series references in the titles, if you want that info available.
- Select all books and polish them.
'Polish books' can be added via calibre > preferences > interface > toolbars&menus > The main toolbar.
Check the 'update metadata in the book files' and 'remove a previously inserted book jacket'.
- This creates original epub formats you want to remove.
Select all books > toolbar > small arrow next to Remove books > remove files of a specific format > select epub_original.
- Create a temporary folder (e.g. desktop/books). Select all books in the calibre app and drag (copy) to the temp folder.
- Remove all books from the calibre app.
- Remove all files from the calibre library folder in Finder. (You can move them to a different temp location if you are the careful type).
- Import the books stored in desktop/books into the calibre app (add books > add books from a single directory). This will recreate the library with proper metadata. Bonus: the library will be sorted according to your new metadata.
Note: when I tried this, it provided a 'read only' error. If that happens, just remove the calibre app and the calibre library folder, and reinstall calibre.
- Drag the books from calibre to ibooks.
- Clean up the temp folder(s).
- Done!
